Paying Tribute

This week was a pretty tough week-  the world lost three  amazing and influential women. Say what you will about each one of them but they were strong, successful, and made an impact.

Lilly Pulitzer
I grew up in Palm Beach County where Lilly’s style reins supreme. I am pretty sure that every time you leave the house there you will see someone in some sort of Lilly. She was a style icon who built a brand that defined an era of chicness.

Margaret Thatcher
Full disclosure, I don’t know much about politics, especially British politics. But I do know that Margaret Thatcher broke through some serious glass ceilings for women.  She was the longest-serving British Prime Minister of the 20th century and is the only woman to have held the office. Her nickname was the Iron Lady – enough said.

Annette Funicello
Last but definitely not least. I grew up watching Annette Funicello. For some reason we watched a lot of old school TV growing up (we owned every episode of The Monkeys ) and we watched Annette on the Mickey Mouse Club and of course in Beach Blanket Bingo and Babes in Toyland.

So long ladies. Hopefully you are all together somewhere dressed in Lilly, singing songs, and talking politics.
